Marijuana should be legal across the United States

According to “Going to pot: No on Prop.19” in California, the author Sal Rosano states that marijuana should be banned across the nation due to abusiveness and potential hazard. From the perspective of law enforcement, this Prop. 19 will result in the new opening to other drugs.  The author makes a strong point comparing the similar effect between alcohol and marijuana because of the side effect. Nevertheless, 1/3 of deaths and injuries occur in the abuse of alcohol users; therefore, marijuana should not be legal in the United States.
In my perspective, drugs and alcohol are the main attraction toward adults and underage. Law enforcement can be a great guideline for people to follow, but adolescence also will have illegally way to obtain them regardless to the law. If marijuana becomes legal in the United States, it will have variety beneficial; for instance, controlling users on the amount of usage and also bring extra taxes toward the States. However, my proposal is not for everyone who would like to consume but for people who eligible need under medical attention.  According to the treatment on the usage of marijuana, it helps patents to reduce pain, muscle spasms, tremors, seizures, and etc.
Another benefit of making marijuana legal is reducing the number of law enforcement. The State does not necessary need more than law enforcement to track down illegal seller toward marijuana since all sellers and buyers must register to the State. It is making easier for law enforcement or auditor to inspect the location to see any illegal activities against the policy.

  1. When reading the title I imagined I was going to hear reasons to legalize marijuana across the country. Legalizing medical marijuana is a whole diffent issue then legalizing it to all citizens of age.I agree that marijuna should be legal for medical purposes, as it has the ability to help people with several different medical conditions. I also agree with legalizing it to citizens over 18 years of age. Annual American deaths that are caused by drugs have tobacco as the leading cause followed by alcohol. After those two, other illegal drugs, caffeine, and asprin. Marijuana had no cases. I believe that the main reason for not legalizing it is because of the income it brings in on charges relating to possession. A reason listed in this blog to legalize marijuana is to reduce law enforcement. I don't see that helping any if we are just talking about legalizing it for medical reasons, but maybe if it's legal for everyone. Law enforcement or health are not the concern on this issue, it's money.

  2. I agree that marijuana should be legalized in the United States for several reasons, many of which you mentioned. To add to your argument, if marijuana was legalized, the government could put a tax on it like they have on cigarettes. This would be taking advantage of a large, untaxed (because its sold on the black market) potential source of income for the federal government. Many people feel that if you legalize marijuana, usage of other illegal drugs will rise. I feel that this is not the case. Buying marijuana puts people into the places and situations where the other dangerous and addicting drugs are. When they go to buy marijuana, they are pressured and enticed into experimenting with other drugs. If marijuana were to be legalized, people would be able to go to their pharmacy to but it, and will not be around, or pressured into using the other drugs.
Although I feel that marijuana should be legalized, it should have restraints on it similar to alcohol. There should be an age limit on it of either 18 or 21 to deter the use of it by adolescents. Also, people should not be allowed to drive under the influence because marijuana can slows peoples reaction, distort their perception, and can render their judgment. Since alcohol consumption is legal and produces worse consequences then marijuana, under the same type of alcohol laws, marijuana should be legalized.

  3. I agree that Marijuana should be legalized but I disagree with your opinion about legaizing it to approved patients. I agree with your reasons for why it should be legalized, but I believe that it should be totally 100% legal to any and to all. There is no reason has to why marijuana is illegal and cigerettes aren't. There has never been proof that marijuana killed anybody, it's a naturally grown herb. Whereas cigerettes are made from horrible chemicals such as some of the same chemicals that are in rat posion. I have even known an all organic pest company that uses Nictotine to kill termites. Can you imagine smoking the same stuff that's used to kill termites.
